Thought lost for many years, this first short film directed by a 17 year old (!) Todd Haynes, was rediscovered in 2014 and put as a special feature on the DVD for the movie 'Safe'.
Bullied boy, left by his father, supported by a over-optimistic and naive mother, tries out life in a new school.
In The Suicide, the boy’s father has left him. Still, much of the film takes place in an otherwise standard Leave it to Beaver household, as a boy’s blindly optimistic mother tries to explain that his new school will be a welcoming place.
